Overview

Please be aware that plasma amino acids, if fasting sampling, can be indicative of the amino acid pool (steady state) and are not influenced by short term intake or dietary fluctuations. This is useful for cases of mood disorders or erratic diets. Compared to urine samples, they convey a slightly better look at amino acid requirements and they are not influenced by kidney function.
