Yersinia IgG and IgA Antibodies

Overview

The Yersinia IgG and IgA Antibodies test measures serum antibodies directed against Yersinia species, including those commonly associated with foodborne or environmental exposure. IgG markers provide information related to past contact, while IgA may reflect more recent or ongoing immune activity. The test supports evaluation of exposure to organisms that may be present in contaminated foods, water sources or animal reservoirs.

This assessment may relate to gastrointestinal infection, abdominal pain, fever, loose stools, reactive arthropathy, post-infectious symptoms, or suspected exposure through contaminated food products such as meat, vegetables or dairy. It may also be relevant when there has been contact with rodents, soil or water where Yersinia species are known to occur.

Practitioners typically review these findings alongside symptom history, dietary patterns, environmental contact, travel history and other contextual information provided by clients. This helps build a broader understanding of how past or recent exposure may align with the concerns reported.
