Overview
The 15 IgE Mold Panel measures food- and environment-specific IgE antibodies in a serum sample obtained via venous blood draw. IgE antibodies are associated with immediate-type immune responses and are commonly assessed when evaluating suspected allergic reactions. This panel includes a broad selection of mould species commonly encountered in indoor and outdoor environments.
Clinically, this test may be useful when individuals report symptoms affecting the respiratory tract, skin or general comfort that appear to relate to damp environments, indoor air quality or mould exposure. IgE-mediated responses may present shortly after exposure and can vary depending on environmental conditions and individual sensitivity.
Practitioners typically interpret results alongside symptom history, environmental exposure patterns, housing conditions and occupational factors. When considered in context, the findings can support informed discussions with clients about environmental exposures and immune responses to specific moulds.
Indications
- Respiratory symptoms: nasal congestion coughing wheezing or breathing discomfort.
- Asthma-related symptoms: symptom flares linked to damp or mould-prone environments.
- Allergic-type reactions: sneezing itching or skin rashes associated with environmental exposure.
- Indoor environment concerns: symptoms linked to time spent in damp buildings or poorly ventilated spaces.
- Food-related reactions: symptoms following consumption of mould-containing or fermented foods.
- Skin symptoms: hives or swelling following environmental or dietary exposure.
- Recurrent allergy symptoms: persistent symptoms without a clear seasonal trigger.
- Environmental sensitivity: suspected sensitivity to indoor air quality or humidity.
