DUTCH Adrenal

Overview

DUTCH Adrenal evaluates adrenal-related hormone patterns throughout the day using dried urine samples collected at several time points. It measures daily fluctuations of free cortisol and cortisone, along with their metabolites, and includes DHEA-S as part of the analysis. These components are measured using advanced LC-MS/MS technology and results are normalised to creatinine levels to account for urinary concentration variations. The test provides a comprehensive overview of adrenal hormone activity by examining multiple markers rather than a single point measurement.

This approach offers insight into the body's natural hormone rhythms and overall adrenal output, providing data that supports a better understanding of an individual’s hormonal balance. Free cortisol and cortisone patterns reveal daily timing and rhythmic changes, while metabolite levels reflect broader adrenal function. Including DHEA-S adds additional information related to longer-term hormone production. These elements together can help build a layered profile of adrenal activity from a wellness and lifestyle perspective.

Results from DUTCH Adrenal are generally used alongside information on lifestyle habits, sleep cycles, stress exposure and other personal factors to interpret hormone patterns in context. This combined approach allows practitioners to explore how adrenal hormone fluctuations may relate to an individual’s daily experience and overall wellbeing. The test supports broader educational and self-optimisation goals rather than clinical diagnostics.
