Overview
TickPlex Plus is a serum-based immunological assay that simultaneously measures IgG and IgM antibodies to a range of bacterial and viral pathogens commonly associated with tick exposure. The panel includes Borrelia burgdorferi, Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia, Rickettsia, Mycoplasma, Epstein-Barr virus, Coxsackie virus and Parvovirus.
The test is performed using an ELISA-based methodology and incorporates antigens designed to broaden immune recognition, including forms of Borrelia beyond standard antigen targets. Measuring both IgG and IgM antibodies provides information on different aspects of humoral immune response across this pathogen panel.
Practitioners typically interpret results alongside clinical history, exposure risk, symptom patterns and other laboratory findings. TickPlex Plus may also be reviewed in conjunction with complementary immune assessments when working with clients who have complex or persistent presentations.
Indications
- Tick exposure history: Known or suspected exposure to ticks or tick-endemic environments.
- Persistent multisystem symptoms: Ongoing symptoms affecting multiple body systems without a clear explanation.
- Fatigue and stamina changes: Prolonged tiredness or reduced physical endurance.
- Neurological or cognitive symptoms: Brain fog, concentration difficulties or neurological complaints.
- Musculoskeletal symptoms: Joint, muscle or migratory aches.
- Immune response assessment: Evaluation of humoral immune responses to bacterial and viral pathogens.
- Infection screening context: Broad screening for multiple pathogens within a single test.
- Complex clinical presentations: Symptoms that have been difficult to characterise using standard testing.
